Mold loves to live and grow in damp, humid conditions, so it should come as no surprise that this fungi is fond of bathrooms. Most bathrooms are usually small with low air circulation, high humidity, and areas that stay damp. All of these criteria are compatible with mold growing conditions.
STEP FOUR: Use low adhesive blue painters to tape trim around Ponte Vedra, baseboards, windows and door frames. (If you do not have ceiling trim or crown molding, you must use safe release tape on bare ceiling). Tape over phone jacks, thermostats, and moldings. Remove tape immediately after painting, before the wall dries, so you don’t peel off any paint with it.
With the walls now complete, the doorway needs to be installed. It is important to limit the dust that migrates but also permits workers egress. Remember that all bags of debris and materials have to pass through so make it big enough. As described before, a staging area should be planned in containment by the door area.
NOTE: Always work in areas from the top to bottom. Paint Ceiling first, then walls, then the trim or moldings. Always brush the edges (cutting in) first prior to rolling. When cutting in make sure you feather out the edges.
Cut a runner from containment to the dumpster before work begins. Make it wide enough to carry supplies and materials. During rainy weather, make sure there is a mat of some kind to wipe workers feet before reentering the house. Poly is very slippery when wet.
Start by putting your eye protection on and then wet the ceiling. Removing popcorn ceiling textures requires that you completely saturate the section to be removed. Use the garden hose or the spray bottle, whichever you are more comfortable with. When the area is drenched, you may begin the scraping process. Some just allow the materials to fall on the drop cloth. It is better to place them in a plastic bag or bucket, but the choice is up to you. Once you finish removing texture ceiling from an area, wipe it down with a damp sponge or rag and move on to the next area. Complete this until the entire project is done.
Mold is not something that any homeowner wants in their house. At the first signs that you may have black mold in your home it is important to test for and get the removal process started right away. The health of your home and family depends on it.
